Sudirman: China breeze past India into semis
India were handed a drubbing by top seeds China in the quarterfinals of the Sudirman Cup – the result was expected, but the one positive was that Saina Nehwal recorded her first win over world No.3 Wang Xin. The Chinese won 3-1 and progressed into the semifinals. Meanwhile, in another quarterfinal, Korea clinched a nerve-wracking win over Malaysia; the tie going into the final rubber, where Eun Ha Jung/ Kim Min Jung overcame a first set loss to beat Wong Pei Ty/ Chin Ei Hui 19-21 21-16 21-10. Porntip delights in India Open win
New Delhi: The inaugural India Open Superseries could not have asked for better ambassadors to emerge champions at the end of the week. Lee Chong Wei, the world’s best player, and the young-and-coming Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand walked away with the singles crowns on a memorable final day. Chong Wei slays his demons
Lee Chong Wei successfully defended his All-England Open men’s singles title when he beat his greatest rival, Lin Dan, the Olympic champion from China, 21-17, 21-1 in Sunday’s final.

Saina crashes out in quarters; Lin-LCW clash in final
Birmingham: Indian hope Saina Nehwal faltered in the quarterfinals of the All England Open badminton championships to a Japanese player who had to keep away thoughts of the devastating tsunami at home. Seoul (Korea): Three-time world champion Lin Dan’s stranglehold over the men’s game in badminton continued with a win over world No.1 Lee Chong Wei in the final of the Korea Open Premier Super Series on Sunday.
