Indonesia Open: Anup falls; Anand qualifies

Jakarta, June 16: Anup Sridhar, who last week reached the quarterfinals of the Singapore Open Super Series, fell in the second round of qualifying of the Indonesia Open Super Series. Anup, who was suffering from a stomach muscle tear, lost to Tanongsak of Thailand 21-23 21-12 21-11. The Indian had earlier beaten Stephen Wojcikiewicz of Canada in the first round of qualifying.
Meanwhile, Anand Pawar made it to the main draw of the men’s singles. Pawar received a walkover from Englad’s Carl Baxter and then beat compatriot Ajay Jayaram 21-18 21-18.
